The Man Who Came To Visit

Kierra first noticed something was terribly wrong when the shop owner insisted she couldn’t leave without buying something. He had even gone to the bother of pointing out a sign, hanging on a post near the door………..

Buyer Beware.. All Patrons Must Purchase At Least One Item Or….. Forever be lost Amidst the Goods

Now at first, Kierra thought this to be a joke, created by this mad shop owner to drum up business for himself. "Good Sir.. I do nae wish ta make a purchase in yer fine establishment, ye have nae a thing that interests me." The look in the shop owners eye quickly changed from that of a good fellow to that of a very angry ogre. He stepped closer to Kierra and grabbed her arm tightly. "Now ye look here Missy, I will soon put ye ta good work iffin ye do nae purchase at least one pearl item!!!" With that he loosened his grip on her arm and guided her to a fine pair of boots. "Now Missy… ye do nae own a fine pair o these boots do ye? These be fine boots of speed, with these on yer feet ye can out run the fastest beast in all the lands! They will only cost ye a hundred pearls. Ye are carryin yer KORT Platinum Pearl Card aren’t ye?" Kierra shook her head in disbelief, this was either one strange dream or this shop owner was seriously mad. All that Kierra could see suddenly melted before her eyes. The shop owner and Kierra’s surroundings twisted and turned distorting her vision making her dizzy, she sat down hard…. THUD…. Kierra shut her eyes tightly and shook her head, when she opened them again she was in her room. She carefully stood up, still feeling a bit woozy and tried to look around at what should have been her familiar surroundings. "Wha… this ain’t my room!" She quickly headed over to the mantle to look over the pottery that sat there, if this was indeed her room then the pottery that she had created would still bear her signature. She lifted up the first piece and small vase with swirled colors that she had made especially for Giant and looked at it’s bottom. It was flat and no signature was visible. She carefully placed it back on the mantle and quietly crept over to the door. Kierra stood and wondered what was happening to her.. This is not right… I was having such a wonderful time gettin Giant’s my home in order… Then that strange man came… Footsteps outside the door brought Kierra back to reality. Kierra quickly scanned the room to find a hiding place and rushed to the corner to hide behind a huge chair. The door slowly opened and a rather large man lumbered into the room. Kierra trembled as she recognized the face of the man to be the face of her new husband except that this man was much older and wore a Knight’s uniform. He looked so much like Giant that Kierra almost spoke her husbands name out loud, instead she stifled it into her hand. This is not the Giant I married just a few months ago…. she reminded herself. She watched as the man walked over the mantle and picked up the very vase she had, not but a few minutes ago. He turned it over and over in his hands looking at it, as if it was something very precious to him. Kierra looked at Giant who was not Giant and saw that he had tears streaming down his face. He looked to be a man who was lost. Kierra desperately wanted to crawl out of her hiding place and comfort the man but knew she must not, for this was not her reality. The older Giant moved to the very chair she was hiding behind and sat heavily looking at the tiny vase he began to speak… "Kierra my love where are ye? Where have ye gone? Why did ye leave me? Oh Tyr.. Was I meant to be alone? Did I nae marry my love before yer eyes and with yer blessin?!! Oh forgive me milord I did nae mean to take me anger and frustration out on ye." With that the man placed his hands upon his face and sobbed uncontrollably.

She set the vase down and quickly headed for the washbasin to throw some water on her face. She felt so bewildered that she sat down in a nearby chair and stared at the vase intently… "How could I have created that masterful work of art?" Just then Giant came striding through the door humming a little tune. Kierra ran to him and put her arms tightly about his neck and held on tight. "Oh my love I am so very happy ye are home!!! Pinch me please!!!!" The End
