A Free Day

Felena woke refreshed and looked around her. She couldn't remember having slept so well in a long time. She pulled the blankets back, disturbing the sleeping Cali as she exited her bed. She pulled her cloak off the chest at the foot of her bed and draped it across her shoulders against the chill in her room. Then proceeded to the washbasin and splashed the cool water onto her face. She took up her brush and began to comb the tangles from her auburn curls. Her hair had grown longer since she had come to Camelot, and she wore it loose down her back, secured away from her face with a band of leather. She paused briefly, and frowned slightly, remembering the day in the inn when she had cut it to fall just below her shoulders. She would not cut it again if she could help it.

She had risen early, as was her normal routine, and as she dressed felt thankful that this day had been granted her by Windgrey to use as she chose. She secured the buttons at the back of her green dress, a color that almost matched the green of her eyes, and smiled. She would honor St. Patrick on this day, by wearing his color. And was sure to avoid any of Str's pranks for not wearing the green. He might ~Boo-o-o-o-o~ her, but at least she would not be black and blue from pinches. She proceeded to her wardrobe and removed her Flail +2, glanced at it and sighed. She must somehow locate a +3 weapon, she thought, her mind drifting to the night of Murtano's knighting, when they all adventured in the sewers. Her weapon had literally no effect on the Golems infesting the area, and though she got in a few licks at the other monsters there, felt relatively useless in clearing the area.

She smiled warmly then, remembering the sight of her friend during his moment of triumph. He had succeeded in obtaining his goal of knighthood, and she knew that he would bring honor to the guild in all he did. She had almost not been able to make it, but Tyr was with her, and she got there just in time. It would be the last time the "Squire Musketeers" would be together as such, as Murt was now a knight, and Str was to be knighted the following week. Felena was proud of them both. She looked forward to the day that she would join them at the Round Table, reuniting the 3 Musketeers once again.

Securing the clasp at the neck of her cloak, she looked down when she felt Cali rubbing against her skirts. Her companion looked up her then, eyes full of love, and squeaked out a "Good Meowrning." Felena chuckled as she reached down and picked up the loudly purring kitten, and cuddled him into her arms as she collected her shield and pack. Placing the kitten into the pocket at the front of her cloak, she proceeded from her room in search of supplies for their journey. She had a particular destination in mind this day, and a smile again crossed her lips as they neared the kitchen.

It was still quite early, and Camelot was just coming to life, as she entered the kitchen greeted by the smell of freshly baked bread. She greeted the pages who had been assigned kitchen duty for the day, complimenting them on the delicious smells that had assailed her upon her entrance. She smiled at (Sir) Sean Black, as he stirred the wheat cereal bubbling on the hearth, and asked him briefly of his latest adventures as she poured herself a mug of warm mead. He returned her smile easily, and answered that all was going well. KupekCH was busily slicing bread and placing it into the baskets set before him, when the door opened to reveal a bouncing blonde ponytail on a very animated Jovance who skipped into the room to retrieve more of the full bread baskets to be placed onto the tables in the main hall awaiting breakfast for the Lords and Ladies of KORT. Her eyes went open wide and a contagious smile lit her face when she saw Felena, and she rushed over to her, tackling Felena's knees in a Jojo size bearhug. Felena chuckled, returning the child's hug, and kissed her softly on the top of her head. "I see ye have been assigned quite an important task this morning, Jojo," Felena said to her. Jojo, stepped back from her, puffed up with pride, nodded her head vigorously, pointing at the waiting baskets, and then back at herself. Felena smiled warmly at her and said, "I shall not delay you from your task then, young page. Would ye like me to bring thee anything special upon my return this day?" Jojo furrowed her brow in deep thought, and then, as if a light bulb had come on in her mind, her eyes lit up and she nodded her head again, and motioned that she would like a verrrrrry lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-ng rope of licorice from the general store. Felena smiled at her again and told her she would not forget. Jojo attacked Felena's knees once more, and then returned to her assigned task.

She continued chatting with the pages as she collected a small piece of cheese, some bread, and filled a small skin with fresh water for her journey. Cali, having been rousted from his hiding place on Jojo's last hug, peered from the pocket in search of his own breakfast. Felena set him gently in a corner out of harms way, with a warm saucer of cream as she finished gathering the few other items she would need. Cali finished off the cream quickly, licking his whiskers for any drops he might have missed, and Felena retrieved him, mindful of his now very round belly, and placed him back into her pocket. She collected her pack, weapon, and shield, bidding Sean Black and KupekCH "be well", and departed into the dawning day.
